Metal Detecting Tips for Beginners

How would you like to own a metal detecting device? I think that would be cool because metal detectors are not a common device like vacuum cleaner or television.
If you are into adventure, you should get one for yourself and join groups of treasure hunters. They will teach you the proper way of using your metal detecting device. Interpreting sound waves for metal detecting device is not easy if you do not have enough knowledge about it. That is why there are groups wherein you can join. They will teach you on how to use the device, how you can distinguish trash from treasure, and how to interpret magnetic sound waves.

This could be very exciting and interesting hobby because you will be able to find real hidden treasure. However, if you are using an ordinary metal detecting device, the possibility of finding a trash could be as high as 70%. Nevertheless, it will depend on the location where you are searching.

If you want to be ahead of everyone else, buying a heavy duty metal detecting device such as the Pulse Induction (PI) should be considered.  However, most can not afford one because it is too expensive. As a beginner, you should stick with the cheapest metal detector which is the “Beat Frequency Oscillation” or BFO. Same as other metal detecting devices, it also detects metal objects under the ground but it is less accurate.

To maximize your chance of finding real treasure and not trash, you should make a little research on historical places that are untouched by treasure hunters. There you’ll have a chance of finding the right stuff other than garbage.

As a beginner, it is always advisable to practice it on the beach. Ocean brings lots of surprise and there are lots of stuff you can find there whether coins, jewelries, and trash. It is the best place to practice and to learn the different signals and sound waves, each material sends. If your device detected something, dig and see what it is. Doing so, you will learn to differentiate each sound.

Try going to places where treasure hunters did their job before especially if the ground is covered with water, this will make your searching deeper than the usual because of the electric current of the water and soil.

Metal detecting is a fun and unique hobby; you should just be aware of what you are doing and always cover the holes that you have dug.
